Our Family's Small List Of Fun Leadville
Area
Activities:
Leadville
is an excellent central location to mountain fun and we've
loved having our vacation home there for the past few years. The area
has lots of friendly people. We all enjoy the snow but it is so much
nicer having 310 days of sun each year to go along with it!
Besides Winter skiing, here's a list of links with fun family things to
do in the area that we've enjoyed. Of course there are so many other
things to do as well!
*
https://www.mtmassivegolf.com/
about 2 miles down the road from the
house...
*
https://www.mineralbelttrail.com/ a great family three hour bike ride.
Good challenge for teenagers and adults alike. It's about a 3 mile ride
to pick up the trail by the middle school, which makes it a 17 mile 3
hour round trip. Or you can haul your bikes to the nearest trail head.
*
Take a sunny 28 or 78 degree day and enjoy soaking in the river or the
pools at: https://www.mtprinceton.com
*
Make a day trip 2.75 hours south and hike at the Sand Dunes. If it's 26
and Sunny in Leadville, the Dunes will be 50+ and sunny. That also
means to pick a cooler day in Summer. Add 25-30 degrees to Leadville's
forecasted high for the Dunes temperature. On a hot day, the sand can
burn through your shoes. https://www.nps.gov/grsa/ If you leave earlier
(8 AM) in the morning, you can combine this with a Hot Springs visit on
the way down and a pizza for dinner in Salida on the way home. If
you're really ambitious, or need to wear out the kids, keep your
wristbands on from the hot springs and stop back in on your way home.
They're usually open until 10 PM.
*
Ride the Gondola Vail, (soemtimes it's free or you just need to buy
some
food item (beer/wine) at the top, call or check online first to be
sure):

*
Lots of free weekend activities 23 minutes down the road
https://www.coppercolorado.com/
*
Make a day trip to http://www.breckenridge.com/ and get a half or full
day pass at the Peak 8 super slide area.
*
Spend a day or three just around Leadville, ride the train or visit the
Mining Museum: https://www.leadville.com/history/
*
Oh...don't forget a beautiful hour+ drive over Independence Pass (open
Memorial Day to mid Fall) to Aspen for lunch. The Cooper Street
pedestrian mall and surrounding has many fine restaurants and shops and
they really are not that over priced if you shop around!
*
Horseback riding and rafting are everywhere around Leadville, with too
many links to list.

feel free to contact us with any questions!
